Business applications & portals

Your processes deserve better than a shared spreadsheet.

We design business applications cut to fit your organisation rather than the other way round. A proven industrial foundation, a business layer made for you, in service in weeks rather than quarters.

The foundation

One portal, all your applications

Your teams open one address and find everything there: their requests, their approvals, their dashboards. One sign-in, the rights from your directory.
2-M application foundation
One way in, to every business application in the company. A mock-up of the foundation: the data, the names and the amounts are fictional, and the branding is deliberately generic so that no client is identifiable.

The starting point

This is not a software problem. It is a process that never had its own tool.

In most organisations the real work happens beside the official tools. A spreadsheet for what the ERP does not cover. A mailbox for approvals. A network folder for documents. Three files nobody dares touch because the person who built them has left.

This is not a failure of organisation. It is what happens when no tool on the market matches exactly how you work, and having your own built looked out of reach.

Steering

The state of the portfolio, current at all times

Our approach

You only fund what is yours

In a company application, the vast majority of the work has nothing to do with your trade: signing in, handling rights, navigating, searching, exporting, tracing who did what, backing up, standing up to attacks, displaying correctly on a phone. That part is identical everywhere, and it is precisely where the budget of a from-scratch build goes.

That foundation, we already have. It runs in production at our clients, and it is maintained and fixed continuously. The day we start with you, it is there.

So you pay only for your screens and your business rules, the part specific to your trade. Everything that is the same from one company to the next is already written, already tested, already in production elsewhere.

What the foundation brings
What it means for you
One portalOne address, one sign-in, one visual identity. Your people learn a single interface, your IT department administers a single access. Each new need becomes one more application inside the same portal.
Wired to what you already runYour directory for authentication, your document space for files, your ERP for reference data. No duplicate, no re-keying, no asking which version is the right one.
You keep controlHosting at your premises or in France, a database in a standard format, a portable application. No per-user subscription that doubles at renewal.
Security by constructionAccess control, secret handling and logging are part of the foundation: every project inherits them, and automated tests check that they stay in place.

The trade-off

Power Apps or a web application: two good answers

We build both, and we have no interest in pushing you towards one rather than the other. They are two legitimate approaches, each with a territory where it is clearly superior.

The deciding question is simple: who is going to use the application, and how many of them?

What each approach brings
Microsoft Power AppsWeb application on our foundation
Where it excelsInternal users already licensed for Microsoft 365, a need close to standard, native integration with Dataverse, SharePoint and Teams.A large or external population, a very specific business need, a particular hosting constraint.
Time to serviceFast: low-code cuts design time markedly on a standard need.Longer: the foundation exists, but the business layer is built to measure.
Cost structureVariable, indexed on the number of users.Fixed, indexed on the number of applications.
Microsoft 365 integrationNative and immediate: that is what it is for.Possible, but to be built.
External usersFeasible, with a specific licence model to study.Included, with no cost per user.
Upkeep over timeHandled by Microsoft: platform updates are transparent.Ours to carry: that is what the maintenance contract is for.

Deux structures de coût, un point de croisement

The amounts depend on your case and on the pricing of the day. What does not change is the shape of the two models.

Crossing pointCost per userCost per applicationNumber of users →Annual cost →

At that level of adoption, the foundation becomes the cheaper option. The cost stops following the number of users, and external users add nothing to the bill.

Cost per user grows with the number of users; cost per application stays flat. The two cross at a headcount that depends on your case. Below it, Power Apps is cheaper; above it, an application on our foundation is. We cost both scenarios during the scoping workshop.

Our catalogue

Eight families of applications, already in service

Every portal we deliver is unique. The needs, though, cluster, and we have already built, then maintained, the following pieces.

Families of applications already built
FamilyWhat it solves
Document approvalCirculate, approve and trace a document without a single email chain.
Project portfolioSee the real state of every project, without waiting for the monthly meeting.
Quality and non-conformitiesRecord, handle and close an incident, with evidence at every step.
Purchasing and receiptsFollow an order from the moment the need is expressed through to delivery.
HR and employee spaceLeave, reviews, personal documents: self-service, without going through HR.
Expense claimsThree gestures to enter one on a phone, one click to approve it.
Finance and collectionsInvoicing, reconciliation, reminders: cash under control.
Reporting and dashboardsThe right figure, current, with no manual consolidation.
Data processingPython scripts industrialised behind a web interface, where workbooks were being reworked by hand.

The method

A project that does not bog down

The legitimate fear, when an IT project starts, is the tunnel: six months seeing nothing, then a delivery that misses the point. We work the other way round: you see your application working before it is finished, and at every stage.

  1. We look at your process

A few workshops with the people who do the work, not only with those who describe it. We come out with the real circuit, its exceptions and its awkward cases.

  2. You see it before you pay for the build

We produce the screens before building. You click through them and say what is wrong. Fixing a screen costs an hour; fixing a delivered application costs a week.

  3. You follow the build live

Every change is visible online as soon as it is written, on a demonstration environment reserved for you. Nothing is discovered at the end.

  4. Going live, then the life of the tool

Training, migration of your existing data, switchover. After that the application lives: fixes, evolutions, security updates.

Reporting

Reports built on data that is current

2-M application foundation

Our engineering

What runs behind it

We go into this because it is rarely documented by our peers, and because an IT department has every right to know what it is hosting.

Engineering practices
What we do
AuthenticationDelegated to your directory over OpenID Connect. No password stored on the platform side. Your policies, multi-factor authentication, expiry, conditional access, apply as they are.
AuthorisationExplicit roles and scopes per user, checked server side on every API call, never on the interface alone.
SecretsDatabase passwords, API keys and certificates encrypted at rest. No secret in clear text in the code, the logs or the environment variables.
TestsClose to 500 automated tests, unit, integration and anti-regression, including specific tests for isolation and access control. No merge is possible while a test fails.
Delivery chainA single repository, every change goes through a branch and a review. Secret detection and image vulnerability scanning block delivery.
Going to productionDevelopment, test and production environments strictly separated. Production releases are triggered by hand, never automatically.

Frequently asked

What people ask us most

Power Apps or a bespoke build: how do we choose?

Power Apps fits when the application is for internal users already licensed for Microsoft 365, when the need is close to standard, and when it integrates naturally with Dataverse or SharePoint. A web application on our foundation becomes preferable as soon as you need to open access to external users, clients, partners or suppliers, when the user count will grow, or when the business need is very specific. What really decides it is the cost model: Power Apps is billed per user, our foundation is billed per application.

How long before an application is in service?

Weeks rather than quarters, because the technical foundation already exists. The lead time depends on how complex your process is, not on the plumbing: authentication, rights, navigation, exports and traceability are already built and proven at other clients.

Where is the data hosted?

Your choice: on your servers, on your private cloud, or on infrastructure we operate in France. The portals run on standard components, Linux, Docker, PostgreSQL and Redis behind a reverse proxy, with no exotic dependency outside the usual skills of an IT team.

How do users sign in?

Through your corporate directory, over OpenID Connect against Entra ID or Active Directory. No password is stored on the platform side, your security policies apply as they are, and a departure recorded in the directory closes access automatically.

What happens if we want to take it back in house?

The database is in a standard format and the application moves from one hosting arrangement to another. Reversibility is not a sales argument added afterwards: it follows from choosing standard components, a decision made at the start.

Does the second application cost as much as the first?

No, and that is the whole point of a shared foundation. The first application pays for setting up the portal; the ones that follow attach to it with the same authentication, the same rights and the same users. The fifth costs markedly less than the second.
