Microsoft Fabric consultant

Microsoft Fabric for groups with operations in France: we start from your sources, not from the platform.

Your group reports on one standard, while its French subsidiary or plant runs on its own ERP, its own chart of accounts and its own habits. Eleven expert consultants, projects of 30 to 150 days, and one speciality: heterogeneous information systems.

The criterion that matters

What sets a Fabric expert apart from a platform reseller

Microsoft Fabric is easy to present and hard to deliver. The difference between the two does not show on a brochure: it shows in the first question you are asked.

An integrator who talks architecture before seeing your data is selling a catalogue. Everyone has the platform. What commands a fee is reconciling the charts of accounts of six subsidiaries, finding out why a free field was diverted from its purpose, and matching a report to the euro with the ERP.

For a group with a French entity, the point is practical: head office needs a figure it can rely on, and the local team needs to recognise its own numbers in it.

Where to start

Recognise the shape of your project

Three shapes of project. Direct sources: few systems, Power BI connects straight to them. Consolidation: several systems to reconcile, a platform sits in between and aligns the reference data. Business application: the data has yet to exist, an entry application produces it before it joins the analysis chain.

Our method

The medallion architecture, applied to every project

This is the model we apply systematically. Its strength: business rules live in one single place, so they can no longer diverge from one report to the next.

BronzeINGESTIONSilverCLEANINGGoldSEMANTIC MODEL
A three-layer medallion architecture: Bronze for ingestion, Silver for cleaning, Gold for the semantic model.
BronzeIngestion
Raw data, exactly as the systems produce it. ERP, CRM, Dataverse, SQL databases, files.
SilverCleaning
Cleaning rules and business alignment. This is where the charts of accounts of six subsidiaries are reconciled.
GoldSemantic model
Aggregated and optimised data. One source of truth, shared by every report and every department.

What sets us apart

The rigour of a freelancer, the solidity of a team

The market offers two solid models, each strong on one half of the need. The large IT services firm brings the capacity and continuity of an organisation; the freelancer brings sharp expertise and the commitment of someone who delivers what they sold. We built a third way that holds both.

We are 11 expert consultants, and we keep training continuously because Fabric moves fast. The consultant who scoped your project is the one who delivers it.

Frequently asked

What people ask before choosing an integrator

How do you recognise a genuine Microsoft Fabric expert?

Three signs. First, they start from your sources and not from the platform: an integrator who talks architecture before seeing your data is selling a catalogue. Second, they tell you in which cases Fabric is not needed, because Power BI alone is enough more often than people say. Third, they acknowledge that Fabric is a young platform, evolving fast, which calls for a period of familiarisation.

Do we need an integrator to set up Fabric?

Not necessarily, if you already have someone in house who masters dimensional modelling and has the time to devote to it. The platform is accessible. What takes more than the platform is the arbitration of business rules between several entities, the loading of history and the figure-by-figure reconciliation with the source systems: that is where projects stall, and that is where an integrator earns its place.

How much does a Fabric engagement cost?

Our Fabric projects run from 30 to 150 days depending on the number of sources and the complexity of the business rules. On top comes the Microsoft capacity, billed separately by Microsoft: on shared capacity every reader needs a Power BI Pro licence, on dedicated capacity readers no longer need one but the capacity itself is billed. We price both scenarios during the scoping workshop.

Do you work with groups headquartered outside France?

Yes. We are based in Saint-Priest, on the outskirts of Lyon, and we work in English as well as in French. The data of a French subsidiary or plant is handled very well remotely: on a Fabric project most of the work happens on the data, not in a meeting room. We travel when a workshop calls for it, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and in French-speaking Switzerland.

What is the difference between Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse?

Fabric is the unified platform that succeeds the historical assembly of Synapse, Data Factory and Power BI, bringing them together under one offer, one storage layer and one bill. If you start from scratch today, the question hardly arises any more. If you already have a Synapse estate, it deserves a serious look, and the answer depends on what you have built.
